Youth Expo 2008

The Saturday before Youth Expo starts...

members with large livestock arrive at the fair at 7AM...

to set up the pens and the showring.

Each pen consists of three panels plus another with a gate

Saturday and Sunday before the competition begins everyone went to the pancake breakfast

Proceeds from the pancake breakfast go to provide scholarships

for kids that might not otherwise attend camp

Before the competition the lambs and the goats need to be weighed

Trying to get the exact weight can be trying

One member was the director for Large Livestock for Youth Exo

The lambs must be carefully groomed to look its best

The competition begins as you walk into the showring

All lambs line up so the judge can get a good look at all of them

This member's two lambs are the babies of her ewe Sophie and were born on Super Bowl Sunday

The judge asks the competitors questions about their species

This member also received first place in showmanship

The goats must also be carefully groomed to look their best

Studying right up to the competition to be able to answer questions from the judge

Now that studying pays off
