Each November the Rocketry Organization of California (ROC)...holds a three day launch at Lucerne Dry Lake in the Mojave Desert.They launch some really big rockets there that can go up well over a mile or twoWe spend an hour visiting the vendors and watching the launches...before we break away for our own OABB launchWe set up a few launch pads for rockets with smaller engines and one for larger enginesThen spend the reset of the day launchingSometimes you end up chasing the rocket across half the desertAnd sometimes they come down right next to you!On the way back we stop for lunch - pizza is always a favoriteEspecially if the restaurant has games and bumper carsNeedless to say... everyone had a great time!
